Dear Friends, Colleagues & Students,
This entry marks the beginning of my grand adventure to Kolkata, India. I plan to write at least once a day to someone who is following my blog. Right now I have no idea what I will encounter, who I will me, how my perceptions about education will change. I'm reading "India" by Michael Wood, his companion book to the documentary series he created in 2007, and "India After Gandhi" by Ramachandra Guha. Both books are enlightening and I'm beginning to see the miracle that is Indian democracy. We consider ourselves diverse in the US, yet we are homogeonous in so many ways compared to India.
